Action Girls - to help plan August 2 Kiss In attend a meeting on July 29 at the LGBT Center -- 208 West 13 St, NY, NY -- at 7:00 pm. - the desk person at the door will direct you to the Lesbians for Liberty meeting. ACTION accomplished - check back here for details soon! We were impressed by the enthusiasim of action girls from many groups and as individuals. The Garden still seems rigid in their approach to LGBT issues, however, staff was totally pleasant to sportsfem (who sported a sign) and we think there's still a LONG WAY TO GO TOWARDS PROGRESS. - but sportsfem wasn't kicked out either. Time-out Kiss-in!

Are you tired of the WNBA and the New York Liberty denying that lesbians are packing Madison Square Garden week after week for women's basketball games? Tired of no mention of Gay Pride at the game on Pride Sunday every June, and lame excuses from the Garden and the Liberty management? Tired of hearing about "family" every single game and no mention of the kind of family that buys out half the arena game after game? Join us for a lesbian Liberty kiss-in Friday August 2. We've tried to play nice. We've e-mailed, called, talked to the press, leafleted, and held up signs. Now it's time for a little old-fashioned lesbian direct action! We'll be staging a time-out kiss-in at the Liberty game Friday August 2. At every time-out during the game, we're asking lesbians to stand up and kiss. It's a great way to get close to that new crush, or just add spice to your long-term relationship, all while telling the Liberty you're sick of being ignored. We need lots of people to make this a powerful action. Even if you're not into kissing every 5 minutes or so, you can hold a sign or make noise with our special lesbian kissing bells. We'll have groups of lesbians all over the arena. It's a great activity for couples and singles alike! There's going to be a planning meeting the Monday before the game, July 29 (time and location TBA) and possibly some sign- and noisemaker-making sessions before then. We welcome people to help in the organizing or just to come to the game and kiss each other or cheer us on.
