To have a website at a particular web address (or domain name, ex: www.yourname.com), you must register it with a domain registrar. The difference between a web host and a domain registrar is important. Where a web host houses, maintains, and manages your complete online presence, a domain registrar, much like business name registration, simply designates you the right to use a particular domain name (web address) for a certain length of time.

Please note that, if you do not already have a domain name (ex: www.yourname.com), but require one, you do not need to register your domain before signing up for LFC! Simply enter your desired domain name during registration. Following signup, you will be sent instructions to automatically register your domain name through your control panel. Alternatively, you can always add domain name(s) at a later date. If you already have a domain name, you do not need to register it again, and there is no cost whatsoever to move it to LFC Hosting.

Our customer service team will work with you free of charge to ensure the seamless, fast registration and transfer of your domain name(s) to our network immediately upon signing up and at any time you wish to add a domain name to your existing account. We follow-up to verify that they have, indeed, been registered/transfered, and can work with all types of domains (ex: .info, .cc, .ca, .us, etc.) with the registrar of your choice.

Competing services typically offer an automated process to handle the registration and transfer of common domains (.com, .net. and .org) with a few leading registrars (Network Solutions, Register.com) and make no guarantee that the process is successful.

Note that this service includes the work required to ensure the registration and transfer of your domain(s) to your satisfaction. Domain registration fees, which are independent from the hosting company, still apply (as with competing services) and vary greatly from one registrar to the next. Your domain registrar will invoice you directly for these fees. We typically work with Network Solutions (www.netsol.com) for domain registration. If Network Solutions does not meet your needs, we are glad to recommend another registrar that does.

Also note that you do not need a domain name to have an online presence. Free options include a subdomain (yourname.lfchosting.com) or subdirectory (serverX.lfchosting.com/yourname), which can be chosen during registration.
